Effect of Decay Index on Elongation Rstio in Non-Circular Tokamak TNT-A

In a notx-circular tokamak (TN'F-A), the relation between elongation ratio tcand decay irrdex n (= -(r/B.)'(DB./8r)) is investigated, varying the curvature ofthe shaping field. Both active and passive control have been done in the regionof -0.9<o< -0.2. By 'Fhomson scattering, magnetic probes and flux loopsmeasurements, a D-shaped, stable plasma of 7'.g -l8OeV, n.. -10"cm ',q.>2 (the IVIHD oscillation of m=2 mode appears) with elongatiotx ratio of upto 1.5 is obtained. 'the numerical cttrve of plasnra equilibriunx in (r, n) spacefits well with the measurements. 'the effects of the iron core and shell on the decayindex are important in a rron-circular tokamak. The iron core nxakes the decayindex lower, and the shell makes the field curvature smaller. 'the calculation arndmeasurements show that the decay izndex is mainly affected by the iron core.
