Stability of electrostatic drift waves in a plasma carrying an electron currentdriven by a radio frequency wave is investigated. Numerical calculation of thegrowth rate of the drift wave in a sheared magnetic field is made for a stab modelwith a bi-Maxwellian electron distribution. It is found that the RF-driven currentacts to destabilize the drift wave but the destabilizing effect is much weaker thanthat of the Ohmic current.
