Emission and excitation spectra of KCI:Tl, KBr:Tl, Kl:Tl, NaCl:Tl and NaBr:Tlhave been measured up to 36 kbar at room temperature. In the case of potassiumhalide, when the host crystal is transformed from the Nail-type to the CsC1-typestructure by applied pressure, the emission spectra show a discontinuous blue shift andgrow significantly on their high energy sides, resulting in the overlap of the excitationand emission spectra. In the case of Nail: Tl, the excitation and emission spectra alsopartially overlap each other with increasing pressure. It is discussed that the parameterS of Haung and Rhys in the Tl'-center decrease with increasing pressure.
