Hydrostatic Pressure Effects on the Moments of the A-Absorption and A_T-Emission Bands in KCI:TI^+

The pressure dependences of the first, second and third moments of the Jahn-Teller-induced ,4-absorption and ,4.-emission barrds in KCI:'[1" have been observedat room temperature. The changes in the first and third moments with application ofa hydrostatic pressure P are proportional to P in both the .4-absorption and .4.-emis-sion bands. Moreover, the observed change in the third moment of the .4-absorptionband is equal to 3<l:If)(f') and that of the .4,-emission band is nearly equal to3(If)(f'). Here (,lf)and<,A')arethechangeinthefirstxnomentandthesecondmoment of the corresponding band, respectively.
