The uniaxial magnetic crystalline anisotropy of Pd. .Fe. in tetragonal L1.-type or-dered phase (0.38<,v<0.50) was obtained from magnetizatioxt curves of quasi-singlecrystal samples in a magnetic field up to 100 k0e. The first anisotropy constant K.,. at4.2K of stoichiometric composition (,X'=0.5) was estimated to be 2.1 X 10'erg/cm'.The constants of x=0.42 and 0.38 were l .5 X 10' a.nd 0.8 X 10' erg/ cm', respectively.From the present result the most evident magnetic field deperrdence of torque curvefound in x= 0.42 (reported in Part II) was attributstble to the difficulty to suppress theordered atomic arrangement due to the highest order-disorder transition temperatureof this sample. K.. was much smaller than K.. for all compositions.
