When annealed and successively quenched, the CsBr:Pb" shows peculiar absorp-lion spectrum similar to that of Csl:Tl'. The type of defect responsi ble for the spec-trum was investigated by measurements of dielectric loss and ionic thermocurrent. Itseems that the defect is imputrity-cation vacancy dipole.lead in cesium bromide, absorption spectrum, dielectric loss, ionic thermocur-rent, I-V dipole
