• We have studied the dvnamical motion of an interstitial impurity atom atoctahedral site in the fcc lattice and obtained the exrression of the mean-squaredisr>lacement of the defect. In order to make r:>redictions of the effects of propertiesor the interstitial impurity atom ur>on the mean-sctuare displacement, the displace-ment is calculated numericallv. The results are applied to the case of hydrogen inthe fcc crystal paUadium.
