Anomalous thermal exr>ansion of Feat alto>r is calculated on the basis ofLiberman-Pettifor's virial theorem and the full single site approximation in thefunctional intexral method. Results exr>lain well the Invar effect. In general, theelectronic contribution to the thermal exr>ansion consists of three terms, i.e. therositive term r>rorortional to the sr>ecific heat, the local moment term caused bythe temr>erature variation of the amr>Iitudes of the local moments and the termdue to the s-d charge transfer. It is verified that the large negative thermal ex-pansion of the electron system is caused by the local moment term. The latticeparameter, the bulk modulus at I=0 K and other magnetic quantities are alsocalculated, which are consistent with the experimental results.
