The effect of pulsation on the instability of an arbitrary two-dimensional parallel flow of an incompressible, viscous fluid is investigated. It is shown that the effect due to the pulsation of low frequency can be estimated in terms of the growth rate of disturbance in an appropriate steady velocity destribution. Decreasing of the effect with increasing frequency is related to the boundary-condition for the disturbance, and the growth rate is in proportion to inverse powers of the frequency.
