Elastic Scattering of Alpha Particles by ^<20>Ne and ^<24>Mg

Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of alpha particles by ^<20>Ne and ^<24>Mg have been measured at laboratory angle of 176° as a function of incident energy in the range 20 to 24.5 MeV. In alpha -^<20>Ne scattering seven resonances have been observed. Angular distributions have been obtained at nine energies. Tentative spin and parity assignments have been made for five resonances, corresponding to the compound ^<24>Mg nucleus, by phase shift analysis. In the case of alpha -<24>Mg scattering, many peaks appeared in the excitation curve which shows rather complicated feature. An gular distributions have been measured at nine energies.
