The angular distributions of protons scattered elastically and inelastically by Ne^<20> and Ne^<22> have been observed at six energies from 4.95 to 5.50Mev. The shape of angular distribution of inelastically scattered protons varies rapidly with incident energy in boths eases of Ne^<20> and Ne^<21>. An anomaly is found at 5.25Mev in the reaction Ne^<20>(p, p')Ne^<20>(Q = -1.63Mev). The elastic scatterings also exhibit the corresponding features. These results suggest that the reaction proceeds mainly through the compound nucleus formation process. The spin and parity of the compound state seem likely to be 5/2(+).
