Structural phase transition was studied in the layered compound CdPS_3 by Raman scattering. Below the transition temperature at about 295 K two new peaks appeared and the splittings of the two peaks were found. One of the new peaks at low frequency showed softening. Our results indicate that the high-temperature phase belongs to a trigonal symmetric crystal structure. Probably the crystal symmetry changes from D_<3d> to the triclinic symmetry C_i with decreasing temperature through this phase transition.
