Spin-Peierls Gap and Two-Magnetic-Excitation Bound and Resonant States in Cu_<1-x>Zn_xGeO_3 and CuGe_<1-y>Si_yO_3

We sttrdy a spin-Peierls gap and a botrnd and a resonant states of two raaagnetic excitationsin Ctt) .Zn.GeO3 and CuGe) .Si.,03, Breatkdown of the selection rtrle in the doped samplesenables us to observe the spin-Peierls gap excitation in the first-order Raunan process. It is fotrndthat this excitation shifts to lower frequency and merges into the tail of the elastic scatteringtogether with its line broadening with increasing dopant concentration. The bound state of aparticle-hole pair is observed .jtrst below the bottom of the second-order Ranaan band in pureCtrGe03. It changes into a resonant state axnd disappears rapidly as the concentration of thedopant is increased, owing to the weakening of attractive interaction and the extreme increaseof the danapings of the rnagnetic excitations. These feattrres are demonstrated theoretically byusing Green's ftrnction.
