Fermion number nonconservations due to chiral U(1) anomalies are investigated in the framework of canonical quantization by using some model field theories of chiral fermion systems coupled to external electromagnetic fields. In any even dimensions these theories may contain particle spectra which behave effectively as two dimensional Weyl fermions. They must carefully be taken into account in defining fermion number operators with normal ordering and are shown to have an essential role of generating fermion number nonconservations.
