We point out the possibility that due to the Pauli principle effect the two-nucleon potential in nuclear matter may be considerably different from that determined by the scattering data. In determining the two-nucleon potential in nuclear matter, the Pauli principle should be taken into account for the intermediate states of nucleons which constitute the potential, while it is not the case in free nucleon-nucleon scattering. We have studied the effect on the I=J=0 exchange part of the potential due to the exchange of interacting two pions. We have found that the effect is repulsive for nuclear binding and increases remarkably with density for K_F≳1.0 fm^<-1>.
