Energies of the σ_u State of the H_2^+ Ion in Strong Magnetic Fields : Condensed Matter and Statistical Physics

By using the adiabatic method, the energy values and the equilibrium internuclear separation of the H_2^+ ion in the very weak bonding state σ_u at zero magnetic field are calculated from adiabatic potentials, as a function of magnetic field strength. The adiabatic method with a variational parameter gives the very reasonable results over the wide range of magnetic field strength.
