Current Algebra and Form Factors of the Axial-Vector Current

Sum rules which relate the axial-vector and the induced pseudoscalar form factors of the nucleon to the pion electroproduction amplitude are derived on the basis of the equal-time commutators among axial charges and vector currents. In the approximation retaining only the (3, 3) resonance contribution to the pion electroproduction amplitude, the axial-vector form factor is found to be almost equal to the Dirac form factor and the induced pseudoscalar form factor is dominated by the pion pole term.
