The criterion for the validity of the Born collision approximation, namely energy conservation among the unperturbed states involved in the scattering, in the ordinary Boltzmann-Bloch type theory of electrical conductivity has been discussed on the basis of two-time Green's function. Scattering due to impurities and phonons has been studied. It is demonstrated that the criterion for the calculated value of the conductivity(i. e. Landau's criterion, h^^-/τ_γ≪E_f)should naturally be weaker than the criterion for the distribution function (i. e. Peierls's criterion, h^^-/τ_γ≪kT). The difference is shown to be essentially due to the quantum degeneracy of electrons in solids.
