Two-current matrix elements are studied in a field theory realizing the parton description of deep-inelastic electroproduction. It is shown that current amplitudes scale in the Bjorken limit and that the resulting structure functions depend on two variables, the scaling variable and the momentum transfer. In terms of these scaling functions, sum rules are derived for the Schwinger terms and the elastic form factors valid in the nonforward direction as well as in the forward direction. Schwinger-term sum rules are observed to diverge in a region of t where α(t)>0. It is discussed, however, that this kind of divergence is intrinsic to field theories and harmless. Also an argument of the Drell-Yan-West relation is given.
