Curved Isospin Space with Torsion and Pion-Nucleon Interactions

The chiral SU(2)徨U(2) transformations for a pseudoscalar meson are regarded as motions in a three-dimensional curved isospin space of constant curvature where the coordinates are the components of the pion field. A consistent representation for the isospin operator in the curved isospin space with torsion is proposed. From the kinematical part of a fermion Lagrangian density the interaction terms which contribute to both S- and P-wave pion-nucleon scattering amplitudes at low energies are derived at once through the covariant derivative for the fermion field. At the same time it follows the result that the unrenormalized value of the weak-coupling-constant ratio g_A/g_V is unity.
