Effect of Pion-Nucleon Final State Interaction in Backward Pion Photoproduction from Deuterium in 1 GeV Region

The effect of pion-nucleon final state interaction in the backward pion photoproduction from deuterium is calculated by using several assumptions such as the closure approixmation, the use of static model, etc. for the incident photon energy Eγ~1 GeV, where the final pion-spectator system is just in the 3-3 resonance. It is shown that the effect is negligible within the presently available experimental resolution. Correction to the impulse approxima-tion calculation is estimated to be of the order of a few per cent almost independently of the detail of photoproduction amplitudes in the rather wide range of Eγ.
