The invasion of blood vessels into chondrocyte lacunae of epiphyseal plate is prereqtuisite for enchondral ossification of long bozxe. For this, the trnsverse septae of calcified cartilage matrix must be brokeun down and osteoclasts orchondroclasts are considered to play a key role in this phenomenon. Despite osteoscrelotic (oc/oc) mice have a functional defect of osteoclasts, the resorptioun of epiphyseal cartilage followed by invasion of blood vessels is noted. In addition, the longittrdinal septae of cartilage matrix are also extensively broken down, as a result of which the replacementof epiphyseal cartilage plate by the primary spongiosa is dutturbed. We examizxed mainly by electron microscopy what cells participate in this phenomenon.
