There seems to be a congenial atmosphere in Kobe city, for its inhabitants live near the sea and can enjoy looking at it whenever they want. For example, a lot of visitors from all parts of the world arrive in Kobe port by the luxury liner. And we often hear them say they feel refreshed by the beautiful scenery of Kobe. Around the area from Meriken Park to Harbor Land, old warehouses have been converted into restaurants, and also wharves and piers into parks. Especially, around Meriken Park, wide open spaces are still left althought a lot of big buildings are concentrated in there, such as the Port Tower, the Kobe Maritime Museum, big hotels and such. Kobe City has the mountains and the sea. And above all, it seems that the sea gives Kobe City a good image and a good impression to people. The luxury of space facing the extensive sea. This is the individuality of Kobe's waterfront.
