A Method of Blind Equalization Using Block Processing

The adaptive equalization method using the coventional blind estimation is based on the orthgonal projection by sample time. But it is difficult for conventional to be implemented with on-line processing because the conventional algorithm need many quantity of calculation. We present the new method using block processing, in order to enable the on-line processing of blind equalization. First, we will estimate a characteristics of the channel using each block of the output signals of the channel. Secondly, we will design an equalizer from the characterristics of estimated channel using the orthogonal projection onto the received signal space. The proposed method is based on designing an equalizer parameter so that the matrix P_<N,N>=W_<N,N>H_<N,N> may be the orthogonal projection matrix onto the received signal space, where W_<N,N> and H_<N,N> demote the impulse response matrix of an equalizer to be designed and that of the channel respectively. The impulse response matrix of an equalizer is basically expressed with Moore-Penrose inverse matrix. The proposal blind equalization algorithm can be implemented on-line processing, it is expected that the quantity of calculation of the proposed is less than that of the conventiotional, and the convergence characteristics of the proposed is the same as that of the conventiotional.
