In this paper, we propose a design method of multirate digital servo system using multirate digital state observer. The control algorithm of conventional digital control system is designed in the premise that detection of controlled variable and sending out of manipulated variable to controlled plant in the same sampling period. However, it is difficult to detect all controlled variables at the same sampling interval and to utilize its information for the control, as there are some differences of characteristics of sensors and structures of measurement systems in actual control problem. In such case, the control period depends on the sampling period of the controlled variable which needs longer time duration for the measurement, that causes degradation of the control performance. One possibility of setting the sampling period which is suitable for each controlled variable and the improvement of the control performance by using this design method is clarified.
