In the speed control of DC motors, the torsional oscillation very often appears in the shafts of the motor system connected with the mechanical load by the mechanism of the flexible coupling. The purpose of this study is to realize the control system that has no torsional oscillation of shaft and a good response by the adaptive control using together with H-infinity control even if the wide fluctuation of load occurs in such DC motor systems. The control system with both H-infinity and Adaptive controllable features controls the torsional oscillation by H-infinity control and improves the response characteristic by Adaptive control. This paper proves the usefulness of this proposal system through the actual application to the speed control of a DC motor.
