We describe a technique to control intractable bleeding during cardiac surgery using a pericardial patch sewn over the bleeding area and a small diameter prosthetic graft connecting the patch and the right atrium to decompress the space covered with the patch. We successfully applied the technique in two patients. This technique should be considered to obtain final hemostasis when anastomotic bleeding is hard to control directly
