To examine the cellular movement of K^+ under general anesthesia, liquid ion-exchanger K^+ microelectrodes were constructed. The slope constant, ionselectivity, range of measurement and reproducibility of the K^+ microelectrodes were examined and the K^+ microelectrodes were found to be sufficient to determine the intracellular K^+ activity. Further, the intracellular K^+ activity of sartorius muscle of rabbit was measured in vivo by using the K^+ microelectrodes.
