線虫における細胞質遊離糖鎖の生成と代謝

真核生物の細胞質に見られる遊離糖鎖(Free oligosaccharide; FOS)は N 結合型糖鎖の供与体であるドリコール中間体の酵素分解,あるいは小胞体関連分解(ER-associated degradation; ERAD)の過程で peptide:N-glycanaseによる細胞質での糖タンパク質の分解で生じることが近年の研究より分かってきた。FOS は細胞質に局在する endo-β-N-acetylglucosaminidase および α-mannosidase による分解を経て,最終的にリソソームに取り込まれ単糖に分解される。本稿では我々が行ってきた線虫 Caenorhabditis elegansにおける FOS 代謝に関連する酵素あるいは FOS の分析を中心に,FOS の生成と代謝,その生理的意義について概説する。
