A coupled-channels formalism based on the axial rigid-rotor model built on a saturated coupling scheme was used for estimation of optical model potential of 238U for the nucleon incident energies up to 150 MeV. Suggested best fit parameters allow description of experimental neutron and proton scattering angular distributions and neutron total cross section data almost within experimental errors. Evaluated neutron strength functions and potential scattering radius were also used in the parameter search and could be reproduced well. Predicted absorption cross section for neutron above 10 MeV is 10% higher than the values adopted earlier.
