Temperature Distribution Measurement with Acoustic Computerized Tomography Using Rectangular Arrangement of Transducers

We propose a new acoustic computerized tomography (A-CT) for measuring temperature distribution in a rectangular space. This space is surrounded by acoustic transducers in rectangular arrangement. The rectangular arrangement causes two problems. One is that the number of parallel sound paths is quite different depending on the direction of pseudo rotational scanning. The other is that angular intervals of the pseudo rotational scanning are unequal. This indicates that projection data sets cannot be obtained at equal angular intervals. To counter these difficulties, projection data sets of equal angular intervals and equal linear intervals in the radial direction are created by two-dimensionally interpolating the acquired projection data points smoothly in $r$–$\theta$ space with biharmonic spline interpolation (BSP). From simulation results, the validity of the proposed method is confirmed, and this indicates that the new A-CT is useful for measuring temperature distribution in a rectangular space.
