Through particle-in-cell Monte Carlo Collision simulations, it has been predicted that high-energy electrons produced by electron plasma waves, which are resonantly excited at approximately the cutoff density by an evanescent E-field of a surface wave parallel to the density gradient, may sustain high-density plasma. The effective collision frequency at a resonant point is in fairly close agreement with the prediction of Aliev et al. [Plasma Source Sci. Technol. 1 (1992) 126].
