The ozone production efficiency of a planar-disk-type barrier discharge of oxygen was investigated using a time-modulated power supply. The efficiency obtained using the time-modulated power supply was higher than that obtained using a continuous-wave power supply. The improvement in ozone production efficiency reached approximately 20% compared with the efficiency obtained using a continuous-wave power supply. The optimum values of the on-time and off-time of the power supply, which are required in order to obtain the optimum efficiency, were also investigated.
