An optically manipulated carbon nanotube (CNT) deposition technique is investigated in detail using Raman spectroscopy. We deposited CNTs only onto the core region of an optical fiber end by simply injecting light through the fiber into a CNT-dispersed solution. Area-selective deposition was confirmed by microscopic Raman spectroscopy. A passively mode-locked fiber laser was realized using the CNT-deposited fiber as a saturable absorber.
