Two cases of mucinous carcinoma of the breast manifested as interval cancer are reported. The intervals from screening to discovery of breast tumor were 14 months and 5 months. Mammography used for screening in case 1 revealed no particular findings. At diagnosis, welldefined masses without spiculae and calcification were seen by mammography, and tumors of mixed echogenicity with bilateral shadows or distal enhancement were seen by ultrasonography. Mucinous carcinoma was diagnosed by aspiration cytology in both cases. It was considered appropriate to diagnose mucinous carcinoma as interval cancer in breast cancer screening because of expansive growth caused by cancer-produced mucin. For welldefined mucinous carcinoma, breast-conserving surgery is indicated.
