A field study of mammographic screening in Fukuoka Prefecture was performed from April to October 2002 at 62 sites where the procedure is undertaken. Information was collected on the exposure conditions, generator type, screen-film type, grid, developing conditions and QC program. Data were obtained from 58 facilities (94%), and analyses were carried out on these questionnaires. The effects of the technical parameters-such as screen-film combinations, antiscatter grids, processing conditions and x-ray beam qualities-on the average glandular tissue dose and image quality were also analyzed under two exposure conditions.<BR>Analysis of the technical parameters affecting glandular tissue dose and image quality will be useful for establishing a breast cancer screening system using mammography.
