Mention errors of literatures on papers which appeared on journals.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual situation of mention errors of literatures those are obstruction for smooth search of literature. The material of this investigation is derived from quoted literatures (J. J. O. S., A. J. O., A. O.) which appeared on recent 20 years' J. J. O. S.. The result is as follows.1. About 281 literatures are quoted in yearly averag and 37.7% of those had some mention errors.2. The number of quoted literatures and appeared papers had no relevance with that of mention errors.3. There were more mention errors on Western journals than those on Japanses one.4. Mention errors were frequently recognized in title (15.1%), name of author (8.1%) and name of journal (7.4%). Mention errors were found in abstract and subtitle (about 20%) which were not so frequently quoted.
