The title nickel chelate, which has a planar four-coordinated form, gave an intense new band, no corresponding band of which was observed with the other chelates, at the position between the first and second π-π<SUP>*</SUP> bands. The spectra were compared with those of the corresponding compounds free from the acetyl group.
