The rate constant for the reaction NH<SUB>3</SUB>+O→NH<SUB>2</SUB>+OH was determined by the comparison of the calculated ammonia consumption rates with those observed in shock tube experiments in the range of 1690–2310 K, for NH<SUB>3</SUB>–N<SUB>2</SUB>O–Ar mixtures. The rate constant can be represented by the expression <I>k</I>=3.1×10<SUP>12</SUP>exp(−25.5 kJ/<I>RT</I>) cm<SUP>3</SUP> mol<SUP>−1</SUP> s<SUP>−1</SUP>.
