Treatment of allylic esters (R<SUP>1</SUP>CH=CR<SUP>2</SUP>CH<SUB>2</SUB>OCOR<SUP>3</SUP>: R<SUP>1</SUP>=H, Ar; R<SUP>2</SUP>=H, alkyl; and R<SUP>3</SUP>=Me, Ph) with hexamethyldisilane in the presence of catalytic amounts of PdL<SUB>4</SUB> (L=PPh<SUB>3</SUB> or P(OPh)<SUB>3</SUB>) or RhCl(PPh<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB> gives the corresponding allylic silanes in the excellent yield.
