• The solid-phase <SUP>13</SUP>C NMR spectra of <I>o</I>-, <I>m</I>-, and <I>p</I>-hydroxytropolones were measured. In the solid state, the hydrogen shift between the C-1 and C-2 oxygens was frozen under the NMR time-scale; the major tautomer of the <I>o</I>-hydroxytropolone was shown to the 2,7-dihydroxytropone form, which was parallel to the previous assignment deduced from the IR spectroscopy. In addition, the solid-phase <SUP>13</SUP>C NMRg of <I>o</I>-bromotropolone showed it to be 7-bromo-2-hydroxytropone.
