• The crystal structure of the β′<SUB>1</SUB> form of (<I>R</I>)-α-monostearin has been determined. The space group is P2<SUB>1</SUB>2<SUB>1</SUB>2<SUB>1</SUB>, with <I>a</I>=4.943(1), <I>b</I>=8.858(2), <I>c</I>=101.05(1)Å, and <I>Z</I>=8. The two independent molecules in the title compound have different conformations.
