Diene-transmissive Diels–Alder reaction of l,3-bis(<I>p</I>-tolylmethylene)-2-propanethione has been investigated. The cycloadducts obtained by the reaction of the thione with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate and diethyl azodicarboxylate underwent Diels–Alder reaction further with various dienophiles to give sulfur-containing polycyclic compounds.
