Trinuclear chromium(III) complexes with optically active amino acids as bridging groups, [Cr<SUB>3</SUB>(μ<SUB>3</SUB>-O)(μ-RCH(NH<SUB>3</SUB>)COO)<SUB>6</SUB>(H<SUB>2</SUB>O)<SUB>3</SUB>]X<SUB>7</SUB> (R=CH<SUB>3</SUB>, (CH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>CH, (CH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>CHCH<SUB>2</SUB>, C<SUB>6</SUB>H<SUB>5</SUB>CH<SUB>2</SUB>; X=Cl<SUP>−</SUP>, NO<SUB>3</SUB><SUP>−</SUP>), were prepared, and the X-ray structure of the L-valine complex was determined. Their electronic spectra and magnetic moments are similar to those of analogous carboxylate-bridged trichromium(III) complexes.
