Charge Transfer Interaction between the Cation Radicals of Some Aromatic Diamines and Triethylamine

Electronic spectra of the cation radicals of some aromatic diamines in triethylamine were found to differ remarkably from those in other solvents such as ether or alcohol as regards (1) swelling of the absorption at around 25000 cm<SUP>−1</SUP>, (2) broadening of the first band system and (3) red shift of the same system. It was concluded that these phenomena are due to the charge transfer interaction between cation radicals and triethylamine.
