A novel vinyl monomer containing the polyaromatic ring, 9-(<I>p</I>-vinylphenyl)anthracene, was prepared by the Grignard reaction of anthrone and <I>p</I>-vinylphenylmagnesium halides which could be obtained either from <I>p</I>-bromostyrene or <I>p</I>-chlorostyrene. The results and the spectra of products are discussed.
