Of the 1, 158 ears with sensori-neural hearing loss observed during the past 6.5 years, 20.6% showed clinical changes of hearing (deterioration, fluctuation, or recovery).In all cases, appropriate treatment and estimation of the clinical course of the impairment are desirable, but difficult under the present circumstances.The clinical courses of 6 typical cases are reviewed. It was discovered that clinical investigations were still insufficient in these cases, and it was concluded that more adequate clinical examinations and more effective treatment, must be given, especially in those cases of sensorineural hearing loss which show fluctuation, deterioration, or even improvement.
