We have performed manipulation under anesthesia on 8 patients with frozen shoulder who were 4 males and 4 females in ages ranging from 47 to 64 years with an average of 54.4 years. We evaluated the result about pain, activity of daily life and range of motion. And arthrographic examination was performed before and after the treatment. Relief of pain, improvement of daily activity and increase of ROM were satisfactorily acquired in all patients.Arthrograms of all patients before manipulation showed severe contraction of the dependent pouch of the capsule. At manipulation, the inferior part of the capsule was ruptured in 5 cases, but at follow-up, sufficiently expanded to allow smooth glenohumeral movement in the capsule. Manipulation was considered to be a very useful method for treating frozen shoulder.
