• Tuberculous arthritis of the elbow joint is rare now in japan and its differential diagnosis is rather difficult. A 48-year-old man came to our hospital complainig of swelling and pain of the right elbow joint. Acute arthritis was suspectecd and blood chemistry showed high level of uric acid. But inspite of normalization of his uric acid level, the pain and swelling of his right elbow joint continued and got worse. Open biopsy was done and the diagnosis was tuberculous arthritis. We performed curettage and synovectomy of his right elboiw joint. During anti-Tbc therapy, his X-P showed miliary tuberculosis and culture of his sputum was positive. We sent him to national sanatorium of Tokyo hospital. Inflamation of his right elbow joint has subsided and showed good respons to anti-Tbc drugs.
