The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors which influence the prognosis of the cubital tunnel syhdrome. Materials consist of fifty-four cases which were treated with some operative procedures such as the anterior subcutaneous transposition (45 cases), the King's method (5 cases) and etc. An average age at operation was 47 years. The follow-up period ranged from 6 months to 21 years (average; 4 years and 8 months). The patients were classified into two groups (mild palsy and severe palsy) according to degree of the preoperative palsy. Clinical results at the last examination were evaluated by the modified Akahori's method. And with those results the following things were studied, 1) relation with the age of the patient 2) relation with the duration of onset of symptom till operation 3) relation with the degree of the preoperative palsy 4) relation with the preoperative motor conduction velocity (MCV).Excellent and good results were obtained in 83.3% of the mild palsy group, whereas in severe palsy group those were only 23.8%. There was a highly significant difference in results between the two groups. The age of the patients and the period from the onset to the operation also influenced the results. Also in preoperative MCV showed that the results were proportionally better in cases with higher conduction velociry.
